One lucky poker player, using the pseudonym KAPPIT, was awarded over $218,000 in cash by Ultimate Bet last Tuesday after winning an incredible Bad Beat Jackpot at this popular online poker room.

KAPPIT, a 60 year-old woman from Ferris, Texas, was playing a $0.25/$0.50 Texas hold’em cash game at the CEREUS Network website when she saw that she held quad nines. She was thrilled with her hand until she discovered that her opponent CJBV held quad queens.

The Bad Beat Jackpot at Ultimate Bet, standing at $670,573.38 kicked in with KAPPIT’S loss as it pays out when a player loses with quad 8s or higher.

KAPPIT was therefore the big winner of the Bad Beat Jackpot even though CJBV had won the hand. CJBV won $109,057 for his part in the event and 7 players each took home a $1,000 bonus just for being at the table. An amount of $89.36 went to each of the remaining 610 players for playing on Ultimate Bet at that moment.

KAPPIT has been playing poker for 45 years and will use part of her winnings to trade in her 1995 truck.

A statement read from Ultimate Bet revealed that fifty cents is collected from all qualifying poker hands and placed into a growing pot until the jackpot is hit. The jackpot is divided among bad beat jackpot players when an online poker player loses a hand with four eights or higher. The remaining pot is held over for the next hit. A piece of the jackpot goes to every player seated at a bad beat jackpot table that features the same limit and game type as where the bad beat occurred.

Ultimate Bet is licensed in Kahnawake.
